Watches at Salon QP

Salon QP- Leading horologists united under one roof.

The Saatchi Gallery was once again taken over by watch brands and enthusiasts from the 12-14th November for the UK’s premier, consumer watch exhibition, Salon QP.

Visitors to the event had the opportunity to discover every bit of detail that goes into horology’s most enthralling creations through meeting the master craftsmen themselves or attending one of the many planned seminars throughout the duration of the show.

With over 75 prestigious watch companies, from some of the most reputable grandes maisons to top independents, exhibiting their latest timepieces we have picked out some of our favourites from the event.

Vacheron Constantin

Since 1977 Vacheron Constantin is one of the oldest watch brands and was a must see brand at Salon QP Watch Exhibition This year, the company marked its 260th anniversary and with this released a number of astonishing pieces. If you are fortunate enough to own one of these prestigious pieces an expert from the Maison’s Heritage Department in Geneva was on hand to personally appraise your timepiece, giving you the opportunity to learn more about it and secure an extra seal of authenticity.

Look out for: The Harmony Collection and of course, the crème de la crème of watches, the Ultra-Thin Grande Complication Chronograph. Don’t fall too in love though as only 10 are being made with a price tag of £262,000 a piece… (Prices subject to change)

A.Lange & Sohne

The Saxon spirit of innovation in horology is strongly upheld through an A.Lange & Sohne timepiece and it is this Saxon heritage that forms the backbone of the company. Quality engineers craft captivating movements, decorated with its own finissage technique. Whether visible through the sapphire-crystal case back or not, each of the finishing touches is applied by hand bestowing each timepiece with its personal signature.

Look out for: The Zeitwerk Minute Repeater; the World’s first decimal digital minute repeater with a wealth of technical accomplishments.

Jaeger-LeCoultre

Jaeger-LeCoultre has played a central role in innovation within the field of Haute Horlogerie since its founding in 1833, whether it be the invention of the smallest mechanical movement ever made in 1929 or the creation of timepieces which are constantly pushing limits. Jaeger-LeCoultre is one of the only remaining, fully-integrated watch manufacturers in Europe and has become one of the most prolific in-house movement manufactures to date. It is because of this and the promotion of the companies enjoyment of passing on specialist knowledge, that many other manufacturers do indeed ask the company to produce movements for them, something which

Look out for: One for the ladies, The Rendez-vous, one of the most appealing and advanced women’s watches to unfold recently.

Arnold and Son

Part of an exclusive clique of watchmaking companies authorised to call themselves a ‘manufacturer’, Arnold and Son’s movements are produced in-house in La Chaux-de-Fonds, an area at the heart of Swiss watchmaking. The developments of these movements are shown through the vast range of superior complications, with at least two new movements being created each year.

Each and every Arnold and Son model contains a sophisticated calibre which tells its own story whilst retaining the high quality, long standing heritage of the brand.

Look out for: Arnold and Sons Time Pyramid intricate engraving, a truly unique timepiece.
