The evenings are getting lighter and hopefully spring is around the corner. But where do the Brits want to go this year. According to a report in the Daily Mail, many Brits no longer consider Spain to be foreign enough and are now opting for adventures further a field in Egypt The USA & Turkey. Brits have loved going to Spain ever since the 1970 when the cheap package holiday first came along, so much so, that many have bought holiday homes in Spain or have in fact upped sticks and retired there to live. However, the days of the cheap European holiday are becoming a thing of the past and with the strength of the euro, prices are on a par with what you would expect to pay for a holiday at home. Another interesting factor is that many holiday makers consider Spain to be too crowed with Brits, so much so, that it does not feel like a holiday. Hence the reason, for seeking out pastures new ( and being away from the Euro zone helps as well.) Of course there still will be floods of people heading for Spain and the Canary Islands this year and it remains ever popular for holiday home purchase, but at the present moment, the following countries USA, Turkey, Portugal, Egypt, Greece are more in fashion. Sometimes overlooked in reports, is the popularity though of a holiday at home. The United Kingdom, is becoming more popular with persons wanting to travel within there own country are there are still vast tracts of this country where you can holiday in relative seclusion. Providing, you are happy with the erratic climate, there are many opportunities for having a great holiday in this country. There are large numbers of holiday homes and cottages and many are available to rent for short periods via websites or from the owners directly. When you work out the cost of a stay in a holiday let property, people are often surprised at how cheap they are when compared with other forms of self catering accommodation.
