Britons on the Move
Datamonitor the market analyst
company has said that the Travel Insurance market in the United
Kingdom is booming as many Brits are now taking more than one annual
Holiday. What the figures don't reveal though is why more and more of
us are taking time to Travel abroad. Traditionally Brits, took a two
week holiday somewhere warm once a year, that pattern is completely
changing and the reasons are interesting.
Firstly and probably most importantly, is the introduction of low cost
air fares, this has insured that a whole new generation of explorers
are heading out from Britain to visit a whole host of European
destinations. Recently , these destinations have been expanded to
include many eastern European countries for the first time and former
fairly inaccessible areas are being visited for the first time by
homeowners.
Secondly, large numbers of trips are being taken abroad in the search
of a
holiday home property, either to
purchase as a Holiday Home or as a main residence. Exploratory trips
to view foreign holiday homes are now quite common and eastern
European countries like Poland are particularly popular.
Is it hardly any wonder that we are casting our eyes further a field
in an effort to snap up Holiday Homes, this summer has probably been
the most miserable most of us can remember and any one holidaying in
the months of July and August would have been lucky to get thing other
than a few days in the sun. Many first time buyers have found
themselves priced out of buying a home in the United Kingdom and have
decided instead to look abroad to get a foot on the housing ladder and
cheap air flights have enabled many to just pop over for the weekend
to have a look at what's on offer.
France Spain and Italy and the most important destinations, these are
still seen as established safe areas for holiday home purchases but
now large amounts of property is coming up for grabs in eastern Euro
open countries at bargain prices. This market is mainly motivated by
speculators, hoping to purchase property at very low prices in an
attempt to make a quick profit. Of course , this is possible but these
markets are fledgling and noone is really sure of the resale value of
property.
if you ask most people where their dream holiday home is, most will
still day France & Spain. Several holiday trips are usually
undertaken, part of the fun of buying a holiday home abroad, is having
the excuse to go abroad on numerous occasions to sample the delights
of various areas. Almost all guide books written to help people
purchase property abroad advise, inspections trips to be made to as
many areas as possible. Once choosing the location for your holiday
home, visiting in different seasons is also recommended, quite often a
location can be pleasant in the summer months, only to turn bitterly
cold during the winter.
Insurance for holiday homes, is quite specialised as it is always wise
to see the costs involved before you purchase a particular property.
