Spain no longer foreign enough (17th February 2010) - it's around about that time of year again, when peoples minds start turning to planning a holiday. The evenings are getting lighter and hopefully spring is around the corner. But where do the Brits want to go this year. According to a report in the Daily Mail, many Brits no longer consider Spain to be foreign enough and are now opting for adventures further a field in Egypt The USA & Turkey....

Buying Overseas Property (16th February 2010) - Even though sales of overseas holiday properties have slowed down considerably, there is still a large amount of interest in  buying  overseas holiday homes. Many people are using the current economic situation to take stock of the overseas property markets and are simply waiting before they feel an upturn is imminent...

Holiday Home Insurance - Protection for Holiday Home Renters (16th February 2010) - Whilst holiday home insurance will cover the owners property (usually buildings contents & liabilities). It does not provide any cover for the  belongings of the renters. You will need to make this clear on your forms that personal belongings are not your responsibility. There is a good chance that the renters own home insurance policy will have a section that covers property, whilst temporarily removed from the main premises.

Holiday Home Insurance- Claims against the Property owner. (12th February 2010) - When most property owners, buy holiday home insurance, it's not often they stop to consider the types of claims that can originate from owning this type of property. But having a property that is not always occupied, does (and the statistics prove it) make it more susceptible to certain types of claim.

Changes to Holiday Home Tax (9th February 2010) - there has not been much good news around lately and just when owners of UK holiday home owners thought things were improving (after seeing strong bookings as a result of more families opting to stay at home and have a holiday) along comes the government with some proposed changes which will alter the much valued tax breaks for holiday let owners....
