UK Mortgage Approvals slowing
- As mentioned in many of our earlier Assetsure reports, the housing market
is now showing signs of cooling down although consumer confidence remains high
and people are continuing to spend money….

Spanish Property Price Drop a
good Thing - Spanish property prices have taken a little tumble lately,
sales are down and the annual increase is at it’s lowest for quite some time.
The expert view is though that this will not put of the Uk Holiday Home or Buy
to let Investor.

Portugal - Portugal is a little way behind Spain when in comes to holiday
home rental, one of the main reason is the fairly complex letting laws
applicable in the country. Many existing owners are confused by the requirements
and many new holiday home investors are being put off from buying in Portugal
because of the laws.

UK House Prices - the
least affordable for a generation House prices are the least affordable for a
generation it has been reported. Buying a home now costs seven times the average
yearly wage and that is just to purchase the average family home.. Mortgages now
account for 45% of the average monthly salary. These figures were last seen just
before the property crash in 1989.

Green Tax to Hit Buy to Let
Landlords - if you are a buy to let landlord, you are now facing another tax
on your property from next year. It has just been announced that investors face
a “green tax” on their properties by having to pay approximately £200.00 for a
compulsory energy performance certificate.. This certificates are a
controversial part of the home information packs.

There has been nothing bad bad news coming out of the Spanish Property
markets recently but at last some good news for anyone that is contemplating
purchasing a
holiday home or renting out their own villa in Spain.
News coming out of Spain is that the number of occupied holiday lets
has risen in the last 12 months.

Buy to Let to Dominate Market
- This week has seen interest rates move up gain and the government is hoping that
this will take the sting slightly out of the housing market. There are many that
blame buy to let purchasers as one of the reasons that house prices are
increasing so dramatically. Of course this has assisted in rising prices but buy
to let only exists because there is a
demand for rental properties.

Landlords feeling the strain
of buy to let -
Buy to let landlords are beginning to feel the
strain of mortgage rate increases and in order to
compensate for their increased monthly costs, are increasing rents at an almost
unprecedented rate. Many are worried that without rent increases, monthly
payments will not meet mortgage costs and their investments will slip in to the
red.

Property Prices Update - Today's newspapers make very
interesting reading indeed and only serve to prove that the Uk property
insurance market is going through a very unsettled time. One leading daily
newspaper reports that the housing boom is over and that in some areas of the
country, property prices are now beginning to drop.
