Asset sure finds people paying for free information - Asset
sure recently found a web site that was offering to sell for quite a
few pounds “ The insider guide to obtaining
cheap home insurance. Well let us
save you the ,money if you have seen this ebook for sale, we can share
the benefit of our knowledge with you for free. Like most other types
of policy, there is no such thing as cheap home insurance, everyone
offers to save you money but they can't all offer the cheapest quote.
There are a number of things you can do though to make sure you do not
overpay and a number of discounts that may be available to you.
-
Always shop around, only by comparing as many products as possible can
you possibly know that you have got the best deal.
-
Insurance companies often give discounts from their home policies for
improved security, you could consider adding better locks to your
doors or windows or you could install a burglar alarm.
-
Having security lighting or window shutters may entitle you to a
discount.
-
Join a neighbourhood watch scheme.
-
Fitting smoke alarms to you property in some cases will provide you
with a discount.
-
If you are over a certain age or retired you may get a discount.
-
Having double glazing.
One of the largest discounts you can obtain, relates to taking an
excess under the policy. The term
excess relates to the first portion of the loss you are responsible to
pay. Usually, you will have to pay the first £50.00 of any claim,
rising to a £1000 for subsidence claims. You can take a voluntary
excess on top of this and insurers will usually consider amounts up to
£500.00. Apart from the above suggestions any other bright ideas from
companies to reduce you home insurance premium should best be ignored.
One of the most ill conceived ideas is not to declare the full value
of your
Contents or Building (Under Insure).
If you under insure and you have a claim, even if it is not for a
total loss, the insurers will probably apply an average clause to your
claim which will have the effect of reducing your settlement in direct
proportion to the amount of under insurance.
Working from Home - With more and more of our daily routine
being controlled by computers, insurers are finding that many
customers are ditching the office and working at home. Many companies
have set up networks so as employees no longer have to commute in to
work. If you work from home, remember to tell your
insurance company as most home
insurance polices do not cover any form of business use. Generally
speaking if your work is clerical only then your insurance company
should be reasonably happy although they may want you to provide a sum
insured for business equipment. If you run any other type of business
from home, especially one where members of the public come on to the
premises, then you will need additional public liability insurance and
you may have to take out a separate policy.
