Cheap Car Hire Rental - If you are travelling abroad on business or pleasure, you may want to hire a car when you reach your destination. Normally, at any airport there will be a hire car facility. Most large airports will be represented by all the major firms. However, this is probably not the most competitive way of arranging for car hire, as undoubtedly, the best deals are obtained by pre-booking. Booking in advance will also cut down at the amount of administration time you will have to spend before you can collect your car. There are now a large number of internet sites, where you can book your car online, some will even compare prices. Vehicles are allocated groups, and the groups will vary on the size and performance of the car.

The car in the picture, may not be the one you receive and rental companies will substitute models, but they will be in the same group you have paid for. If you book online, its worth checking with the company if you have any special needs, such as an automatic model or you need child seats. Some times, on turning up at the rental depot, you may find your needs cannot be supplied You may think, that booking a hire would be straight forward, but it can be a minefield, and there are often hidden charges, unfamiliar insurance policy wordings, higher policy excess and you will be expected to pay if you damage the tyres.

In fairness, to self drive hire operators, the higher excess, may not be their fault, self drive hire insurance, does usually come with higher excess as insurers know that drivers will be using unfamiliar cars on unfamiliar roads , possibly on a different side of the road to which they normally drive. The excess can be anywhere from between Ł250.00 to Ł3500, depending on the type of car, however, you can by a collision damage waive insurance from your country of residence and this may protect you against a very high excess, including payments you will be expected to make if you damage a tyre. Before booking make sure that you clearly understand all the fees and charges and the charges for extras such as child car seats.
