The
Kingdom of Spain is a constitutional monarchy located in south west Europe
, a vast spectacular and diverse country, steeped in history and tradition
and still today, the preferred holiday destination for northern Europeans.
In the south the country dips in to the warm Mediterranean sea and in the
North it is bordered by France & Andorra and the wild Bay of Biscay. What
makes Spain so appealing is that it is a country of great contrasts, in
some parts it is possible to be sun bathing on the beach in in the
morning, have lunch, then travel a short distance inland and go skiing.
Add to this to the infectious atmosphere of Spanish towns and villages and
it is easy to see that Spain is the "complete package"
The package
holiday to Spain has been a firm favourite with the British for over 30 years.
Without doubt Tourism has been the success story in Spain and literally
millions of Northern Europeans have enjoyed holidays in the sun. Although a
little in decline the package holiday to Spain is still a firm favourite. Sun,

highlight of many peoples year and children who have happy family holiday
memories 40 years ago are now returning with their own children and often
burdened with high amounts of equity in their own homes are turning from
holiday makers in to holiday home owners.

decline as people feel more confident of making their own arrangements often
via the Internet. Whether its the middle of the day or middle of the night you

major advances in the ability to take a holiday in Spain has been the birth of
the budget airline. Flights used to only be discounted as part of a package
holiday, now if you book at the right time a flight to Spain can be obtained
for only a few pounds. This will certainly mean avoiding the peak season
periods of Easter, Christmas, July and August and school holidays London
Travel is
certainly more sophisticated that it was, people are more demanding and expect
higher degrees of comfort and via the Internet are prepared to spend time
doing their own research,. In the 70s, it was mainly southern Spain that was
popular with the bulk of resorts centred around the Costa del sol. With good
weather almost guaranteed, once the package operators started to establish
themselves, holidays to Spain become available for large sections of the
population. Nowadays, holidaymakers are venturing further a field, its not
just the pulsating beach resorts that are popular, people are travelling
further in land, looking to sample the authentic, rustic Spain, untouched by
the ravages of commercialism and tourism.
